If you’ve driven past through Belcaro on University lately and caught a glimpse behind the gates of Polo Club Drive, you might’ve thought a new luxury subdivision was going in. Big dirt piles, heavy machinery, fencing everywhere… classic signs of major development.
For those unfamiliar with the Polo Club area, it's an upscale enclave known for its spacious lots and high-quality homes.
Historically, the neighborhood has attracted some of the most affluent citizens of Denver.
Therefore, it's no surprise that the Walton family, the folks who bough the Broncos for $4.65 billion, chose this location for their ambitious project.
However, it is not a major redevelopment, just a single house!
The decision to replace two record-breaking mansions with a single sprawling estate is emblematic of the increasingly opulent designs appearing in high-income districts today.
The combined land deal is $28.2 million. Construction of the new home is another $20 million. This totals to nearly $50 million for a single-level estate.
Designed by CLB Architects, headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming, the new home fuses modern luxury with functional design.
The plans show a 17,975 square feet mega-ranch, consisting of 8 beds and 11 paths spanning a habitable 11,400 square feet. Features include a wine cellar, gym, golf simulator, greenhouse, and a “recreational wing".
The construction work is being undertaken by Beck Builds, alongside Design Workshop, who is providing the landscaping solutions.
Design Workshop is known for its innovative approach to creating sustainable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor environments, and this project will likely incorporate eco-friendly technologies and water-conserving landscapes to complement the home's grandeur.
With whispers swirling about a potential new stadium for the Broncos, it’s fair to wonder: is this the only thing they’re bulldozing?
