Today we visit the Lowry section of Denver where 49 townhome style apartment units are planned for construction. Currently, the 2.47 acre site consist of a 21,216 square foot vacant cold storage building built in 1960.
Formerly, the site was part of the Lowry Air Force Base that existed from 1938 until 1994. Since the air force based ceased operations, numerous buildings have been demolished to make way for the vast residential development we see today. It appears this site is one of the last remaining pieces to be redeveloped.
Thompson Thrift, a Indiana based real estate firm will be developing the project along side Studio M Architecture and Planning. According to the building plans, the apartments will feature 3-stories, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and a 2-car garage. Construction is expected to begin in January 2022 with an estimated completion date of 2023.
The site plans calls for 11, 3-story buildings consisting of 4 and 5 detached units each. We'll check back when ground breaks in January for more updates and expected sale prices.
