Denver resident, Craig Springer recently submitted a proposal that would bring a huge pickleball facility to the intersection of E Mississippi & Dayton Street in the Windsor neighborhood.

E Mississippi & S Dayton

The proposal calls for 10 courts spread across 25,300 square feet and a 3,559 square foot pro shop for selling gear. Running adjacent to East Mississippi Avenue, the facility will be located directly across from the Challenge School and in proximity to Market Square at Mississippi & Havana.

The proposed club will also be within earshot of the Mile Hi Golf Club, Common Ground Golf Course and Lowry Dog Park.

Pickleball's surge in popularity in recent years is pushing Denver’s Parks and Recreation Department to rethink the previous years budget allocations. Department leaders have proposed using two million of Mayor Mike Johstons overall four billion dollar budget to build new pickleball courts across the city. The supposed goal of the initiative is to build courts in high traffic areas that will “not cause conflict” for the pickleball players. However, considering recent budget cuts due to the current migrant crisis, this budget allocation is likely to change.

This also comes in the wake of Glendale banning pickleball at Infinity Park, citing surface damage for the existing tennis courts and, like many other tennis courts around Denver, noise complaints.

This begs the question. With this proposal to build over 10 courts adjacent to a residential neighborhood, will noise complains arise?

We'll be keeping a close eye on this development. Stay tuned for more updates!
